Hi, I'm Aoife, mum to two boys 4&7 (Mr4 and Mr7) and we live in Co.Louth in Ireland.
In March 2020 our world all changed as we knew it and we went into full lockdown and into a world of the unknown. Like in many homes, I set up our homeschooling routine from our kitchen table. During this time to keep myself and the boys motivated, and to keep my mind creative, I shared all our play and educational activities on my private page on Instagram.
When we decided to continue on with homeschooling in September 2020, lots of family and friends encouraged me to set up a play page on Instagram and record all the fun play we do and so playwithmemammy was born!
The boys rejoined mainstream school in April 2021 but we continue to share all our play activities, our family adventures and some outdoor learning.
Our page on Instagram is all about learning through play with some educational activities geared at my boys learning needs at that time along with some baking, day trips and whatever we get up to day-to-day. This blog is similar to our posts on Instagram but with more content in the posts.
I am very passionate about play and believe that play both structured and unstructured are crucial for a child's development. Play is so powerful to children more than we realise, it is actually the key to their learning.
My educational background, I am trained as a Montessori teacher, early years pre-school teacher with 15 years experience, have a degree in Psychology and before Mr4 was born I was a child support worker.
